Football and Marriage Poem Postcards Overview
These postcards featured a young woman in a green and yellow striped outfit. They are desired by sports collectors as they feature sports-themed poems and the woman is pictured with a football.
The poems generally talk about marriage but also have sports-themed elements, such as ‘kicking.’ They have a cream-colored background with a decorative border. Backs have a divided postcard area.
No details are really provided on the cards. An artist is not cited nor a publisher. They are believed to be from around the early 1900s, similar to other postcard issues, but I have not yet seen a definitive date on them.
To date, I have only seen five postcards in the set but others may exist.
Finally, these postcards are a little thinner than standard issues. They are not paper thin but the card stock is not heavy.
