1911 D311 Pacific Coast Biscuit Overview
The 1911 D311 Pacific Coast Biscuit set featured minor leaguers from teams out west on, you guessed it, the Pacific Coast. The set is similar to the D310 set and includes some of the same players.
The set contains minor players – some of which made it to the major leagues. Unlike the D310 set, however, there isn’t a key star here as there was with Buck Weaver in the D310 issue.
Card fronts are printed in color (unlike the black and white D310 issue) and include a player image and name while the backs include a complete checklist of the entire set (which, like the D310 set, includes 72 cards). In addition, backs also state that the set is presented by the Pacific Coast Biscuit Company. As was the case with the D310 issue, the D311 set included a total of 12 different players from each of the six Pacific Coast League teams.
One difference with the D311 set is that the player names are printed in the exterior border. D310 cards have the name printed in the main part of the front where the photo exists.
