1932 Worch Cigar Overview
The 1932 Worch Cigar cards are approximately 3 1/2″ x 5 1/2″. Featuring black and white images and replica signatures on the front, the backs were entirely blank.
The signatures also indicate when the set was produced since a few players added the year ‘1932’ to their autograph.
The photos were produced by Worch Cigar, a tobacco company in Minnesota. The set features local Minneapolis minor league players. The following year, Worch made a set featuring professionals. While this set includes minor leaguers, several of them made it to the major leagues.
Previously, the set was identified as a Wheaties issue. But in recent years, several of these photos were found inside of envelopes from Worch Cigars, which led to the re-classification.
