T211 Red Sun Overview

The 1910 T211 Red Sun set is a scarce pre-war card issue. Fronts are similar to the T210 Old Mill set with a black and white image around a colored border. The only difference is that the cards have a green/olive border instead of a red one.

The backs have a distinct, vibrant red-colored advertisement for Red Sun Cigarettes. The Red Sun Cigarettes name is in large letters at the top against a red background and a sun, printed in red ink is directly below that. At the bottom, a short description indicates that the cards feature Southern Association baseball players.

Some players will be recognizable by collectors of the T206 set as several are some of the rare Southern League players found in that issue.

SGC has graded all the cards in the set but only a few of each at the most.

It is worth noting that while this is a baseball issue, Red Sun used the same design for a boxing set of 50 pugilists called T226. The design was exactly the same with the exception of replacing ‘Base Ball Players’ on the backs with ‘Pugilistic Subjects.’
