Henderson Sports Girls Series B5 Postcards Overview

These postcards featured women participating in numerous sports. The series is rare and not many examples have been found but at least one major sport is included as there is a hockey player in the set.

The postcards feature color pictures of girls either with equipment or partaking in an actual sport. A basic title exists on the front and backs state they are part of Henderson’s ‘The Sports Girls Series B5.’ The titles of the postcards were simply, “The __________ Girl” with the blank filled in by the appropriate sport being depicted.

The Hockey Girl postcard features a girl dressed in formal wear with a hockey stick. Note that, while I have included this set in the hockey section of the site, it is unclear if the sport being depicted is field hockey or ice hockey.

The producer was James Henderson and Sons, Ltd., based out of London. Because it was an international issue some little-known sports likely exist in the series.

Henderson Sports Girls Series B5 Postcards Checklist

To date, the only postcards I have seen from this series include a hockey player and a girl for the sport of Punting (a form of boating) called “The Punting Girl.”
