1920 Peggy Popcorn Overview

The 1920 Peggy Popcorn set is such an unknown that to date, collectors know of only six cards.

SGC Collector Magazine published an article with the six known cards, including Babe Ruth, Chick Gandil, Kid Gleason, Dazzy Vance, Joe Dugan, and Harry Heilmann. Dugan is the only known one to have been in the active marketplace and available for sale. That card, graded SGC 40, sold in a Heritage auction for just over $2,150 in 2015.

There is also some question if the Dazzy Vance card is indeed Vance.

Other than that, we don’t know much about these cards. They are blank and white, as seen in that Heritage link. The back states that there are 20 cards in the set so 14 are currently unknown. Collectors could exchange a full set of the cards for a fountain pen, Eversharp pencil, a ball, bat, or a cap.

Perhaps one day, we’ll know the full checklist. As of now, however, those six cards are the only known ones to be confirmed in existence.
