Reese and Wichmann Wintersport Overview
Reese and Wichmann was a chocolate manufacturer in Germany. They created a trading card set featuring a number of subjects.
While many of their cards were non-sports related, this series included winter sports. At least one hockey card was featured in the series. The color lithograph picture shows several men playing a casual game on the ice with several onlookers and observers in the background. Unlike other early hockey pictures that often featured children, this one shows men playing the game.
No text is printed on the front but the back includes an advertisement for Reese and Wichmann. the hockey card is No. 5 in Series 86, which was called Wintersport.
Reese and Wichmann Wintersport Checklist
It is not clear how many cards were part of the set. The hockey card, however, is the only one in the major sports that I have seen to date.
