Barberan Chocolates Deportes Overview
Not much is known in the U.S. about this 100-card set issued by Barberan Chocolates.
What we do know is that the set was supposed to consist of 100 cards as stated in the upper border on the front. Cards featured colorful images of various sports. The word ‘Deportes’ (Sports) is printed at the top along with a card number. The bottom border identifies the scene.
The back indicates that the company is in Barcelona. Roughly translated, the back reads ‘Buy the Barberan Chocolates – San Pedro brand are the best. A telephone number and address are also provided at the bottom.
The set contains numerous sports and at least one baseball card exists. It depicts a runner trying to beat out a throw. The bottom titles it (translated), “Moment of a Play.” The baseball card is No. 82 in the set.
Other sports in the set include soccer (which is represented with several cards), horse racing, and others. The cards are scarce and to date, I have only seen a few.
