1914 Memphis Railway Station / Railroad Baseball Stamp Overview
This stamp features a baseball scene but was actually produced for the Memphis Railroad. The text on the stamp is sort of a play on words with the baseball theme as it states that the Memphis Railway Station is the ‘First Base’ for distribution to the south and southwest.
The baseball scene is a generic one with a full stadium watching a game. Around the baseball picture is a thin white border and then a thick gold border.
The bottom of the stamp states that it was the work of Dick C. Rice.
