One Ball Trade Card Overview

One Ball Trade CardThis is a trade card that was used by various businesses.

The card served as an advertisement and included a color lithographic picture of a naked baby. He is sitting against a baseball diamond backdrop wearing only a baseball cap. The bottom of the card includes a crossed bats design along with a baseball helping to cover him up.

The simple phrase, ‘One Ball’ is printed at the bottom. Advertisers printed their information at the top against the sky.

A second version of this card was classified by Frank Keetz as No. 201 One Ball. The card is identical to this one but does not have the One Ball caption. Other trade cards for other issues have been found in similar condition, missing captions, such as the H804-6 Forbes Company set. I believe these two issues (the one here and the one catalogued as No. 201) are the same with the untitled version only being a proof or a card that did not make it all the way through production.
