H804-33 Gold Medal Coffee Trade Cards Overview
This set is part of the baseball comic series of trade cards. Noted collector Frank Keetz assigned it the designation used in his book, “Baseball Advertising Trade Cards 3rd Edition.”
The cards feature full color images of baseball players. The set’s classification comes from the presence of advertising for Gold Medal Coffee, which is printed at various spots of the cards. Backs of the cards are interesting in that they contained a testimonial of sorts from a professor at Ohio State University, touting the product and comparing it to other brands. The title reads, ‘Gold Medal Coffee Leads the Field.’
One noteworthy mention is that because this is also an issue for a coffee product, I have catalogued it both in that section (K-Cards) and in the advertising trade card (H-Cards) section.
As is the case with most trade cards, these are fragile and printed on thinner card stock. For that reason, they can be torn or ripped quite easily and damaged easier than standard baseball cards.
