Taking Things as They Come Trade Card Overview
This trade card was used to promote various businesses.
The card served as an advertisement for companies and included a baseball scene. Pictured is a baseball player being struck in the face by a ball – a popular theme among comical trade cards.
The caption, ‘Taking Things as They Come’ appears beneath the image and a group of spectators can be seen in the background. Companies using these trade cards printed their own information at the bottom in the blank area reserved for an advertisement.
The advertisement on this particular card was for a tailor and clothier business, but other companies would have printed or stamped their own information in that space instead.
