1910s W.D. Schmidt and Company Ed Walsh Photo Premium Overview
The mode of distribution for this premium photo is currently unknown. But however it was given to customers (if at all), they were likely limited as there is only one known surviving copy.
The impressive picture features Hall of Famer Ed Walsh. The bottom states that he is a ‘Famous Chicago White Sox Pitcher’ and that the photo was compliments of W.D. Schmidt and Company, a local tailor in Chicago.
The picture features Walsh in the midst of a follow-through of a warm-up pitch.
The known version has a string through two holes to allow it to be hung on a wall. However, because only one copy exists, it isn’t known if that was the way the pictures were originally distributed or if it was the work of the previous owner.
