Cramer’s Isochromatic Photo Dry Plates Nap Lajoie Overview
This incredibly rare card features an advertisement for a business that specialized in photography plates.
An ad for the company, the G. Cramer Dry Plate Company, was printed on the reverse. But the main attraction for collectors was a picture of Hall of Famer Nap Lajoie on the front. Lajoie is shown with a bat in a black and white image with his name printed at the bottom in a white border.
Heritage Auctions states that the company was owned by Gustav Cramer, who arrived in the U.S. in 1959 and founded the company.
The card is mostly a mystery at this point. Not only are no other cards with different players non-existent, but more of these cards featuring Lajoie aren’t even known. For now, only one known card exists.
