1912 Harper’s Whiskey Honus Wagner Trade Card Overview

1912 Harper Whiskey Honus Wagner Trade Card.jpgWhile trade cards had their heyday in the 1800s, some 1900s trade cards were made as well. This one, produced in 1912, featured Pirates Hall of Famer Honus Wagner.

The trade card was used to advertise a whiskey brand for I.W. Harper. The card has an advertisement for the whiskey brand calling it, “The whiskey your grandfather used.” The whiskey was apparently pretty good as it was also touted as a four-time award winner in Chicago, New Orleans, Paris, and St. Louis.

Off to the side is an image of Wagner in his Pirates uniform with the PBC (Pittsburgh Baseball Club) logo on the sleeve. The back of the trade card is blank.
