1923-24 Cigarros Tomas Gutierrez Cuban Baseball Album Overview
The 1923-24 Cigarros Tomas Gutierrez Cuban baseball album includes pictures of baseball players from four Cuban League teams – Almendares, Havana, Marianao, and Santa Clara.
Each team was featured across two pages in the album. Players’ pictures were printed in small rectangular boxes.
As was the case with other album premiums, these books were available through a special mail-in offer. Collectors acquiring all 85 cards in the Cigarros Tomas Gutierrez set could send them in for this album. At 85 cards, this was the largest of the known Cuban baseball card sets. That made it difficult to complete and, as a result, not many of these albums have been found today.
As this was an international album, they are exponentially more difficult to find in the U.S. than other period albums, including earlier 19th century ones.
