Wanted, A Pin Trade Card Overview

Wanted A Pin Trade CardThis is a trade card featuring a children’s scene.

Pictured here are four boys. It is only nominally a baseball card in that one of the children is holding a baseball bat behind his back and two others have red and white striped baseball caps.

One child is holding a mirror as one boy has torn shorts, and another is smiling, in addition to the boy with the bat. The small caption, ‘Wanted, A Pin,’ is printed at the bottom. The ‘Wanted, A Pin’ caption is clearly to indicate a pin was needed to temporarily fix the shorts. Like many trade cards of the era, this one has a comical spin.

The name CM Burd or CM Buro is added at the bottom, which is presumably the artist. The Knapp Company, a popular publishing company in New York at the time, was the printer and their name also appears in small type.

This card is somewhat rare and is not one seen too often.
