1904 Honus Wagner Our Protection Against Loss Pin Overview
It didn’t take long for Honus Wagner to establish himself as a star in the major leagues with the Pittsburgh Pirates. By 1904, he was already a big part of the club and this unique pin shows his endorsement power in the City.
Only a few copies of this issue exist and for a while, it was a bit of an unknown. But in the early 1980s, one of the pins was found with the original pinback, which stated it was an insurance company. That makes perfect sense with the title printed on the pin – “Our Protection Against Loss.”
The pin (seen in that link above) features a portrait of a younger Wagner, his last name at the bottom, and the aforementioned “Our Protection Against Loss” title along the top.
