213. Three Brownies with Bats (H717) Trade Card Overview

213 Three Brownies Baseball Trade CardThis is a trade card that was used to promote several businesses.

The card served as an advertisement for various products/entities. It pictured three brownies seemingly headed off to a baseball game. All three brandished bats and one also carried a ball.

The issue is further identified with a red ‘H717’ printed on the front. The card was printed in color but mostly only red and black ink was used in its creation.

Some cards have the names of businesses printed and stamped onto them. Others, such as this one, are blank and would be stock cards, likely awaiting an company name to be printed onto them.

This is one of the tougher baseball trade cards out there. It is also one of many that featured brownies, miniature baseball players.

This card was numbered separately by noted trade card collector Frank Keetz in his book, “Baseball Advertising Trade Cards, 3rd Edition.” It was a trade card he identified but did not have a printed title on it. Because of that, he catalogued it with a number instead, which is the number in the title shown here.
