1929-30 Rogers Peet Sports Album Overview

Founded in 1874 through a merger of clothiers, Rogers Peet was a clothing store mostly geared towards boys and men. The chain lasted for some time in New York with numerous locations until closing in the 1980s.

The company created a set of 48 black and white promotional cards, covering a variety of sports – among them, baseball, football, hockey, golf, and others.

The cards are tough to come by and feature black and white images of various athletes along with their name and card number at the bottom. Backs of the cards are completely blank.

The set is headlined by Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Lou Gehrig, and Red Grange. In addition to the cards, the company printed albums where the cards could be placed. For this reason, you can find these with paper loss from cards having been removed or traces of glue to indicate they were previously stuck.
