1910 W-UNC Strip Cards Overview
This unusual issue is a set of baseball cards featuring a variety of portraits from players of the era. Believed to have been produced around 1910 this is a strip issue with hand cut cards.
Cards have colorful lithographic images that were used in other sets from the same time period. The cards were not strip cards issued by retailers as was the case in other W-Card sets. Rather, they were cards that were printed on children’s notebook covers.
The cards are generally pretty rare, as you might expect for cards that were printed on notebook covers. It is likely that most were discarded – perhaps without even being cut from the cover.
The cards were not known to Jefferson Burdick and not classified in his American Card Catalog. Therefore, they carry the unclassified designation for strip cards, W-UNC.
To date, PSA has graded no more than a few copies of each.
