1938 Baseball Tabs Pins Overview
The 1938 Baseball Tabs pin set is a collection of 54 different pins. These aren’t traditional pins the way we think of them as today. Instead, the small circular items have pointed tabs extending from the sides so that when folded back, they could attach to something.
The pictures used for the players aren’t fancy – only rough black ink sketches. The pictures are against an equally basic drawing of a baseball with the player’s name at the bottom. Some color is added, however. Each pin is entirely covered in a single color, such as red, yellow, or orange. In addition to players, teams are represented here. It should also be noted that each player/team can be found in various colors.
The pins are incredibly basic by design and the maker remains anonymous to this day.
53 pins were believed to be in the set for a while. However, a 54th was just found in 2016 of Zeke Bonura.
